Phineas gage worked as a railroad worker in the 1800’s. He was involved in a horrible accident that basically ruined how he acted for the rest of his life. Phineas accident was a blow to the head. The reason this happened was because he was messing with expulsive powder and had a Metal rod get shot through his head. After that phineas gage never acted the same again. Despite his horrible injury he still travled the world as normal man and expressed his story. His story changed the way scientist look at the brain today.
Since phineas gage had a horrible injury to the head the author john Fleischman thought he was really lucky. My opinion is that phineas was lucky but then unlucky at the same time the reason I think phineas was lucky was he had a rod go through his head and ended up living. The reason I think he was unlucky was because he was working n a railroad and just all a sudden had a rod got through his head.
The book phineas gage I think was kind of boring because I don’t like talking about the brain. Also there were so many words that were confusing. If someone liked learning about brains or getting into medical school I would recommend this book for you.
